Dental implants are a safe, durable replacement for missing teeth. They function and appear like natural teeth. Crescent Family Dentistry is committed to ensuring your optimal comfort and quality care. That’s why we use the latest techniques to ensure an efficient, stress-free treatment.  We are excited to offer a 3D Cone Beam X-Ray examination that helps us confidently evaluate your missing tooth/teeth to see if you are a candidate for this great treatment option.

Dental implants may be paired with replacement crowns for full tooth replacement or may be used to anchor dentures. Dr. Jane will recommend your teeth replacement plan based on your individual needs and preferences.

Extractions

Third molars, or wisdom teeth, are the last set of permanent molars to emerge. These teeth are also the most likely to require extraction, due to a variety of complications; largely insufficient space. However, other teeth may also require extraction if they cannot be saved by root canal therapy or other treatment. Some of the most common reasons to have teeth extracted include:

  • Impacted tooth – tooth is trapped beneath bone or gums and not emerging properly
  • Crowding or small mouth – emerging teeth may cause other teeth to shift or overlap due to lack of space. Through careful collaboration with Orthodontists, Dr. Simpson may recommend extraction of certain teeth to make room for emerging teeth
  • Decay or infection – when a tooth has untreated decay or infection that cannot be corrected with filling or root canal treatment, it may require extraction
  • Vertically Fracture or broken tooth
  • Severely Mobile teeth related to periodontal disease-  When teeth have periodontal disease, a strong bacteria is present which contributes to loss of bone around teeth causing them to be mobile.  Unfortunately, sometimes the only options for these teeth, is extraction so that further bone loss is prevented.
  • Pathology- sometimes teeth develop cysts, growths or internal pathology that require tooth extraction.  Dr. Simpson uses advanced digital screenings of your teeth to make sure she can observe, treat and advise you on making the best decisions for your teeth.

Dr. Simpson may recommend extraction of one or more of your teeth if any of these issues apply to you. Bone Grafting may be needed to better prepare the missing tooth site for future tooth replacement. During your consultation, we will make recommendations to assure that your  experience is comfortable.

Dentures & Partials

Dentures are a removable replacement for one or more missing teeth. They are used to restore both function and aesthetics. They are made custom to fit your mouth and match the appearance of your natural teeth.

Complete dentures replace the full upper or lower set of teeth. Partial dentures are used to replace one or more teeth when some natural teeth remain. This prevents teeth from shifting into the space left by missing teeth.

Bridge Before and After imagesBridges

Dental bridges are a “fixed” or non-removable solution to replace a missing tooth or teeth. The artificial tooth crown structure is attached to two teeth adjacent to the missing tooth area. The crown unit fills the space with a functional non-removable structure that replaces the missing tooth or teeth.

A dental bridge is custom-made to match your natural teeth in color, size, and shape. We use strong and durable materials for your restoration. With appropriate at-home and professional care, your dental bridge may last for years.

Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy treats the center, or pulp, of a tooth that is inflamed, infected or dead. The pulp is a soft substance consisting of nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue. The therapy involves removing the pulp from the tooth chamber and canals. We then clean the canals with a sequence of files and disinfecting solution. During your root canal therapy, we will provide local anesthesia or sedation(optional) to ensure your complete comfort during the procedure.

After treatment, we will place a temporary filling to protect your tooth until your final restoration  is completed. Root canal therapy can help preserve your tooth and bone for many years.

Periodontal Care

Periodontal disease, also known as gum disease, is an inflammation and infection of the gum tissues. It includes the stages commonly known as gingivitis and periodontitis. Periodontal disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults.

When plaque and tartar are left untreated on teeth and gums, gum disease may develop.

Gum disease is a very serious issue that can easily be prevented through home hygiene habits and routine professional cleanings, click here.
